33 Weeks

33 Weeks

What is totally unbelievable to me is the fact that this baby inside of me is going to be out soon and it's a little person. I know, I know, that's what babies are... but, it's crazy to think every time that he or she moves that it's a live person just growing, hanging out, kicking inside of me... and that is going to be born in about 7 weeks.

I've been so busy with work (it's conference week this week) that I am more exhausted than normal, but I know that after they are over, I get a half day Friday and then a comp day on Monday to rest up. It's certainly been interesting trying to put our house back in order. It's crazy because we now have so much baby stuff. I almost don't know where to put it all. The baby's room still has a queen sized mattress in it though. :-) We'll have to get that one out soon.

Artie and my brother have been working really hard on the changing table and it already looks great. They have about two more days of cutting and putting pieces together. Then we'll have to sand it like crazy and stain it. I'm really excited for the final product. I know it's going to turn out awesome!

Well, there's not much else that's new here. On to the weekly quiz.

33 Week Quiz

How far along: 33 weeks and 0 days today

Weight gain: When I stepped on the scale this morning it said that I am up the exact same as last week... 26 1/2 pounds.

Maternity clothes: I'm finding that there are certain maternity clothes that look really cute, others that are flattering, and others that should just have a sign on them that says - "DO NOT WEAR!"

New Baby Items: So more fun stuff from our shower: We got a lot of great books for our baby, we got NY Giants gear (an outfit and a couple bibs) GO GIANTS!!! Then we also go Pats stuff. It was like our wedding all over again. We got a Pooh Swaddle blanket from Nana which is super cute and a froggy blanket that is so soft I'm not sure the kid is going to get it from me. We also got some really cute pajamas - including some great footies as well as some awesome sleep sacks. I'll write more next week.

Stretch marks: No. Hopefully not.

Sleep: I sleep okay, although I don't think I understand how tired I really am. I ended up taking a three hour nap on Sunday and still went to bed at normal time. It's a little exhausting growing something inside of you.

Best moment of the week: I think that the best moment of the week was seeing how absolutely crazy the baby is moving around.

Movement: Oh my goodness, I sometimes just sit and watch my stomach. It can become very distracting.

Food cravings: I still think pizza is what I want the most out of anything.

Labor signs: No, nothing yet. Hopefully at least another 4 weeks so I'm a little more prepared.

Belly button in or out: It's still in, but I can tell it's rock solid and wants to come out. I don't think it will though.

What I miss: I miss energy and having to explain to people how tired I am just isn't fun. I know it's not an excuse to not do things, but I feel like I back out of a lot of things just because I'm tired.

What I'm looking forward to: I'm looking forward to the finished product of the changing table as well as getting the baby's room more prepared.

Weekly wisdom: What an amazing family I have. Make sure to treasure it!

Milestones: This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

32 Weeks

32 Weeks

I'm going to start by saying, I don't even know what a jicama is. Can anyone inform me? Okay, so 32 weeks means that I only have 8 weeks left (that's 2 months)... I mean that's not a lot of time at all. This past weekend we had family come in to town for my shower. It was a great event. My sister-in-law, Meggan, did such a great job putting the whole thing together. My mom, Nana, Artie's mom and Dad all flew in for the weekend. It was great to see family and get to spend time together.

There are a ton of things that we still have to get done, but I know it'll get done eventually. We got new guest room furniture, but when we tried to put one of our old box springs downstairs, it wouldn't fit around the corner. It was hilarious though. I started laughing and then couldn't lift it.

Well, on to the quiz.

32 Week Quiz

How far along: 32 weeks and 2 days today

Weight gain: I am up 26 1/2 pounds now.

Maternity clothes: I'm feeling even bigger, so clothes aren't my friend right now.

New Baby Items: We got so many great things from the shower. Our stroller came in (although there are no wheels yet), we got our car seat, tons of awesome blankets and other great things. Thank you so much to everyone who got us some great stuff. I'm going to keep updating this list each week so that I list more of the great stuff we got from the shower.

Stretch marks: No. Hopefully never.

Sleep: I sleep okay, but I've been utterly exhausted recently.

Best moment of the week: I think that the best moment of the week was getting to share my baby excitement and the baby shower with everyone.

Movement: Loads of movement. It's now to the point where my stomach moves constantly, and other people can see it too.

Food cravings: I don't know. I did get black raspberry ice cream for the shower. It was amazing!

Labor signs: No, nothing yet. Hopefully not for a little bit longer.

Belly button in or out: It's still in, but it feels like it is popping out more than before.

What I miss: I miss feeling comfortable in clothes.

What I'm looking forward to: I'm looking forward to getting things settled a little more and then when the baby comes.

Weekly wisdom: You can do it!

Milestones: By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.

32 Week Belly Shot! Yeah, I have gotten bigger.

31 Weeks

31 Weeks

It's pretty crazy that the picture of the size of the baby is four oranges because all I have wanted lately is any type of citrus or other fruits. We serve breakfast in our classrooms, and the kids sometimes get oranges halves. I usually eat 2 or more of them. They just taste so good to me!

Anyway, it's hard to believe that we only have 9 weeks left. Time certainly is flying by. Although we've done a lot, we still have sooo much to do. We have to sign up for baby classes, I need to redeem my massage gift certificate (anniversary gift from my hubby), and just finish getting the room ready as well as ourselves. The baby's room is fully painted and should be done. I've taken some photos and will attach them at the end. The room is made up right now for guests because we've got family here, but the big bed will not stay in the room.

I'm feeling great. A bunch of people have told me that I'm getting "big". Not always the best thing to hear. I know, I know, I'm growing a baby in my belly, but don't tell a pregnant woman that she's big. It just doesn't make her feel good. Plus it's made me have a complex about it. As if I already felt that I was big.

Artie's parents flew in Thursday and my mom and Nana fly in this Saturday. It's great to have family around. Everyone seems to think this baby is a boy. I still am not really sure one way or the other. A bunch of my coworkers think it's a girl. Who knows, we'll find out soon enough. Other than just going through the motions of everyday life, work, and all that other fun stuff, nothing new is going on.

On to my weekly quiz.

31 Week Quiz

How far along: 31 weeks and 2 days today

Weight gain: I am up 25 1/2 pounds now.

Maternity clothes: I'm still enjoying maternity clothes and have discovered some new tops and pants that fit me. I already had them, but they were just in my closet waiting for me to get bigger.

New Baby Items: Nothing new yet.

Stretch marks: No. I really am hoping that cocoa butter works. I also heard somewhere that if your mother got stretch marks you're going to as well. Don't know if that's true or not, but we'll see.

Sleep: Sleep is still good; as long as I get enough of it.

Best moment of the week: I think that the best moment of the week is seeing family. Just as long as this baby decides to start kicking for them instead of remaining silent.

Movement: Yeah... I am constantly feeling tons of movement.

Food cravings: I don't want anything big right now.

Labor signs: No, but still having braxton hicks contractions.

Belly button in or out: It's still in.

What I miss: I miss running right now.

What I'm looking forward to: I'm looking forward to getting more things ready in the baby's room (the room itself is done), and getting to work on the changing table.

Weekly wisdom: Believe!

Milestones: This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.

30 Weeks

30 Weeks

10 weeks to go! I had a slight freak-out about that number the other day. In weeks it doesn't seem like a long time, but when you put it in months, it's not so bad. 2 1/2 months to go. That doesn't sound as soon as 10 weeks. I still can't believe it though. I remember the day that I took the pregnancy test and what I did that day like it was yesterday.

We had a great Christmas and New Year's. My brother was out here for almost 2 weeks,
so we got to spend some good time with him. I was off from work, so that also helped. It was nice to be able to relax. Although I didn't sleep in much, it was nice not to have to get up and get ready for work right away, but to have some time in the morning to hang out.

One New Year's Eve I actually stayed up until midnight. I didn't think I'd make it. It was fun to see the ball drop this year. Last year we didn't stay up because we were going to go skiing the next day, so we went to bed early. I got to enjoy "special apple juice" with my niece. (That's what she calls Martinelli's - spelling?).

Well, anyway, not much else is new. We've got family coming in next week for my shower. I am excited to get to see people we didn't get to see over Christmas. Well, on to my weekly quiz.

30 Week Quiz

How far along: 30 weeks and 0 days today

Weight gain: I am up 24 1/2 pounds now.

Maternity clothes: I actually wore a pair of "big pants" today. Of course they don't button, but I could still zip up the fly and they were fine with the belly band. My favorite item to wear though is my maternity jeans. I just love how comfortable they are and how stretchy.

New Baby Items: Nothing new this week. Although Artie and I do have to go in search of a "coming home outfit". Maybe sometime this weekend we'll do that.

Stretch marks: No. I heard that the line on the belly indicates that you're having a boy. I'm not sure now true that statement is or not. We will certainly find out. Anyone have any input on this one?

Sleep: Sleep is okay. I went to bed at 8:30 last night, but was ready for bed at 7:00. I know, I'm pathetic.

Best moment of the week: I think that the best moment of the week is realizing how big the baby is and continuing to feel it kick or punch, I'm not sure which one.

Movement: Yeah, I get beat up from the inside on a daily basis!

Food cravings: I want pizza right now. I never did get it the time before when I wanted it, so I think that doesn't help.

Labor signs: No, but still having braxton hicks contractions. They aren't really painful, but they certainly aren't comfortable.

Belly button in or out: It's still in.

What I miss: I miss having energy.

What I'm looking forward to: I'm looking forward to finishing up the baby's room, which includes getting rid of all the painting supplies.

Weekly wisdom: Trust. It will all work out!

Milestones: Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)
