38 Weeks

2 weeks to go!!!! Whoot whoot! I am so excited to meet this little one and find out what gender it is, what it looks like, and so many other awesome things! I don't feel like I've dropped yet, so we'll see when this child decides to make his or her arrival. We're taking guesses for a poll in case you haven't guessed make sure you send me your guess soon with the date, gender, and time of day.
Other than not being able to bend over pretty much anymore, having to pee 5 times a night, and feeling exhausted, I'm doing pretty good. This week has been a long week. I feel like I didn't get much sleep (even though I know I really did) and that began my week off making me more tired than normal. I'm still plugging away at work trying to get myself ready to leave and everything in my room ready to be taken over by a sub and my student teacher. It does take some of the tension off me to know that the kids will at least have a familiar face in the classroom once I'm gone. I think it puts them at ease too.
We are pretty much almost ready for the baby. Artie has been working really hard on the changing table. It looks absolutely great! He has to do a little sanding, then some rounding of the edges, then we stain it, and it'll be ready to go! I am excited to get it in the baby's room. Our first round of cloth diapers and the set-up arrived. Really happy about that. I am ready to get it all in the baby's room and have it even more prepared. This weekend my goal is to make the baby's room as ready as I possibly can. We still haven't found a bureau for the room yet because nothing seems to match the other stuff. So what we might do is look for an unfinished furniture warehouse and then stain the furniture ourselves. We'll see.
Since today is the first day in March it's official that we'll have a March baby. That means I'll be having this child this month! That's so insane to think about! I am very excited though.
Well, I'll get on to the weekly quiz.
38 Week Quiz
How far along: 38 weeks and 1 days today
Weight gain: I'm up about 33 pounds.
Maternity clothes: I am most comfortable in pj pants relaxing at home with a nice big shirt on.
New Baby Items: We received a really nice new blanket, a changing pad cover, and a picture frame from Artie's cousin Diana. I absolutely love it all! We also got some good books from the shower that I had at school. I can't wait to get to read them to this baby. Artie also bought me for my birthday a rocker/glider and ottoman. So we looked around and one of my friends mentioned to me that a close friend of hers was selling hers. So we went and looked at it, and for half the price, we got a really nice glider and ottoman set. I am excited about it. It's very comfortable.
Stretch marks: Please no.
Sleep: I am up at least 5 times a night to pee. How is that possible by the way? Because it's not like I'm drinking in the middle of the night... Oh man! I guess it's just preparing me for what's to come.
Best moment of the week: Seeing what the changing table is going to actually look like now that it's mostly put together and realizing that this baby is coming anytime now!
Movement: The movements are crazy. The other day my stomach was literally going from side to side, in and out, up and down... It was insane to watch. Artie kept on being like "Whoooo".
Food cravings: I am not really wanting much of anything right now. Food sounds good, but I can't eat a ton because then I'm so full. I do get excited about brownies and desserts now more than ever before though.
Labor signs: Not yet. The braxton hicks contractions are still fairly normal. Mostly I get them when I have just walked quickly or tried to get something faster than I should have. It's interesting when they appear. Other times I will just get them when I'm standing around. I don't really know what to expect, but I know that soon enough I will find out.
Belly button in or out: It wants to pop out, but it won't!
What I miss: I miss having the energy to vacuum and do a couple of the other things around the house I need to do.
What I'm looking forward to: I'm so looking forward to meeting this little one! I can't say enough about how excited that makes me feel!
Weekly wisdom: "You can do all things through Him who strengthens you!"
Milestones: Your baby has really plumped up. She weighs about 6.8 pounds and she's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.
Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If she's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after she's born, but they usually won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)
